Search & Navigation
Find anything in your project instantly.
Global search
Press ⌘K anywhere in Braidr to open the global search. This is the fastest way to navigate your project.
Start typing and Braidr searches across:
- Scenes — titles, descriptions, and drafted text.
- Notes — titles and content from your knowledge base.
- Characters — POV character names.
- Tags — tag names across all categories.
- Drafts — text content of all draft versions.
Search results
Results are grouped by type (Scenes, Notes, Characters, Tags) with the most relevant matches at the top. Each result shows:
- The item title and a preview snippet with your search term highlighted.
- The source (which character or folder it belongs to).
- A keyboard-friendly list you can navigate with ↑ / ↓ arrows.
Press Enter to open the selected result. Scenes open in the Editor, notes open in the Notes view, characters switch to their POV, and tags activate a filter.
💡 Tip
Quick navigation
Besides global search, Braidr offers several ways to navigate quickly:
- Scene navigator (Editor) — the left panel lists all scenes in reading order. Click to jump to any scene.
- Sections sidebar (POV View) — click a section name to scroll to it.
- Character dropdown (POV View) — switch between characters.
- Wikilinks (Notes) — click
[[links]]to jump between notes. - Backlinks (Notes) — see and navigate to all notes that reference the current note.
Undo and redo
Braidr maintains a 50-level undo history for all editing operations:
- ⌘Z — undo the last action.
- ⌘ShiftZ — redo the last undone action.
Undo works in the Editor (text changes), POV View (scene moves, edits), and Braided View (position changes). Each context maintains its own undo stack.
